Why Travel?

Alise Traveling

I think we are so blessed to have an earthly experience, to enjoy the sensual
pleasures that this diverse, endlessly astonishing existence offers.

What better way to take advantage of the opportunity to be alive, in human form—with the gifts of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch—than to travel and maximize the opportunities to use these gifts, living in the fullest, most expressive way possible?

Why Now?

We want to embrace living on our own terms and living with intention, versus letting life “happen to us.” We’ve been conditioned to do what’s expected, to “do the right thing”—whatever that is, according to whomever gets to decide what is “right.” We’ve spent our lives seeking love and approval from outside sources, but we’re through with that.

We are not only on a physical journey of travel, but a spiritual one, a quest to find self-love, which we define as living by our own moral code, releasing the need to justify ourselves or to measure our value by the approval of others. The structure and routine of everyday life tames the soul, and we’re ready to break away from that false perception of rigid control to learn to live in the flow of life and the universe, and to allow that flow to take us to experiences we could never even dream of asking for. This is the freedom of the digital nomad life!

Travel As transformation

Elie Wiesel famously wrote, “We must see in every person a universe with its own secrets, with its own treasures, with its own sources of anguish, and with some measure of triumph.” We are looking forward to meeting new people on our travels and hope that by trying to connect with them, we will better appreciate what it means to be human. We want to immerse into the communities we visit, to observe the vistas, culture and relics of a place and to understand the barriers to freedom in their particular corner of the world.

In giving up our old routines, we hope to become less structured individuals. We want, for a change, to just take days as they come with less control, to fully relax and enjoy life, spending time with our two cats—and to finally and most importantly, simply enjoy each other.
